Project Dirt

Making environmental change happen

Agnes

I'd like to get involved in a green project but where should I start?

Hi

My name is Agnès, I'd like to get involved in a green project but I don't know too much about green stuff so don't know where to start and in what to get involved .Also, I work in a bank in the city and haven't got too much time during the week, so realisically I could be active during the week-end. Anyone got some advice?

Thanks very much for your help!

Where do you live? What kind of thing do you want to do? If it is helping with a community garden then how about the Food Hub in Dulwich - they have been given some land to start a community allottment. Or if you live in Peckham, Nunhead or East Dulwich you could be part of the very new Transition Town Peckham (East Dulwich and Nunhead .... although its a bit of a mouthful). Or just have a look at the groups here and if one takes your fancy ask to join....

If you want to be part or Transition Town Peckham have a look on Project Dirt soon - I'm putting the details on here today/tomorrow.

Hi Alison , Hi Merlyn

Thanks for your messages. I live in Balham. I have joined Food Up Front and the Balham Composters last spring with my boyfriend. We really enjoyed growing tomatoes and pepper last summer so are very much looking forward for the spring to start the plantations again. Re composting, I have now managed to convince my parents in France to get a compost bin which is very exciting and also mean the movement extends!!!!

I am already part of transistion town tooting so thank you for the Peckam offer.
What about you guys? in whaat other projects are you involved in?
Do you need any help?

If you enjoy growing your own food I suggest go on an allotment list or get you parents in France to start a vegatable patch.
Join the SLGO South London Garden Organic club, we have plenty of green members and ideas.

Do you want to help get some veg growing going in the garden at the BBC bar. I have the boxes and compost but haven't yet got around to taking them there. It needs someone who can visit once a week or so and plant a few more seeds. I was planning to give them about ten boxes.

Hi Agnès, if you ever have time for, or interest in doing online stuff, we could always do with more help on the Sustainable Community Action Wiki (Sorry about the ads, Signed-in users of the wiki get an ad-free version.)
