Do you want to:
• Be more effective in what you do on climate change?
• Know more about what’s happening across London?
• Build you skills and share your experiences?

The London Low Carbon Communities Network (LLCCN) is a new network designed to help us all be more effective. It aims to:
• Support existing voluntary action on climate change
• Engage and support new voluntary action groups
• Enable better cooperation between groups and sectors

To make this happen LLCCN will develop:
• Web-based resources including an on-line map and directory, social networking, linkages and information, and news and updates on key issues for London.
• Training and skill-sharing : the network will help build skills on issues from policy work, communication and outreach to practical food and energy projects.
• An open forum - quarterly London-wide meetings offering opportunities for updates and feedback on London-wide activity including action by the Mayor and London councils etc. , for sharing of plans, good practices, and experiences, and offering opportunities for networking.
• Outreach: the network will offer support through existing groups and activists to new and potential groups and projects.

Help make this happen! Whatever kind of group you work with this network is open to you. We need people and organisations to help plan this initiative, to develop the resources and to discuss what we should and should not do. Sign up now, read the attached paper and give us your comments here.

The report on the first meeting should now be with everyone who registered. I'll up load it here shortly. One thing we should do is set up separate groups here on PD for the different work areas.

Thanks to all concerned for kicking this off, I'm looking forward to the next open forum and developing the training/mentoring aspect. With so many local govt & GLA/LDA programmes and community initiatives flying around, getting those communities together to provide some semblance of networking and even coordination is going to be essential!

Hi. I went to the Cineforum on climate change: the road to Ecotopia, on 4 Dec - looking at creating a vision of a sustainable future. Maybe this would be something that it would be useful to do as a network - our vision of a sustainable London? I have written a blog posting about the event here: http://socialimagination.wordpress.com/2009/12/08/seven-steps-to-ecotopia/

Great to be part of what promises to be a truly inspiring network that will see real change accelerated across London.

What about a Box for info, then we can keep the skill sharing stuff together but not crowd the page and Hyde Farm can link to it

I am out all day Monday and most of Tuesday but based on the networking session I would say a first action is to have a steering group meeting to plan (or not plan if it is oing to be Open Space) the first of the quarterly forums, set dates for subsequent quarterly forums, organise a structure and start fund raising for a professional network development worker.
Following a successful draught-busting Saturday at the weekend, I have a lot of material to post somewhere on How to Organise Draught-busting Saturday, and I am not sure whether to put it here, or on the Hyde Farm CAN site. I suppose Hyde Farm CAN with a link from here. What do you think?

Hi - thanks fro feedback. I've been away since Friday so I've not talked with Sue. But a first action when I get back Monday will be to update this page and let's cooperate on taking this forward!
