This interactive discussion with specialist speakers will bring together the Tooting community to invent a positive and creative vision of a life beyond oil. Come along & bring your imagination!
October 21, 2009 from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at Tara Arts http://www.tara-arts.com/

The Trashcatchers' Carnival in Tooting will take place on July 4th 2010
Some funding is already in place for a year long project, using recycling as a metaphor, ending in an unforgettable carnival using lots of TRASH on the streets of Tooting.

Here are all of TTT's latest EVENTS

BACKGROUND:

What Is A Transition Initiative?

A Transition Initiative is a community working together to look Peak Oil and Climate Change squarely in the eye and address this BIG question:
"for all those aspects of life that this community needs in order to sustain itself and thrive, how do we significantly increase resilience (to mitigate the effects of Peak Oil) and drastically reduce carbon emissions (to mitigate the effects of Climate Change)?"

Transition Towns create a positive, collective, participatory, creative vision of the future for local communities, focusing on relocalising, resilience and the reduction of carbon emissions. TTs believe a future without oil will be PREFERABLE to the current situation – healthier lifestyles, resilient, creative, collaborative communities, less waste, less pollution and an environment that can sustain us all.

On 26 September there's the Wandsworth Community Green Fair (see http://www.wandsworthgreenfair.info/ for details).
The idea is that this is for all groups to get involved in and there is certainly a space for TTT to speak about transitioning.
Does someone have this in hand or is this coming out of the blue?
It would be great if as many Transitioners as possibel could come - it should be interesting and good fun - Paul Ekins, Green luminary and founder of Forum for the Future, will be speaking.

It seems the map (below) has now been opened up to the rest of South London! So, let's get some Tooting stuff up there! There's more written about it here

Green spaces map....
One of the ideas that was floated around at last meeting (I suggested) was to develop a map for everyone to input potential public spaces for growing food.
I looked into it, and Bonnie told me that there is already such a map started by TTB (click here).
So instead of re-inventing the wheel, I suggest we add to this one. Only problem is it would probably have to be re-named?

Was a visit to applefest in Whitstable going to go ahead this weekend? I was interested in going along but maybe there's not enough interest?

I'm new to the group so not really sure what you are up to.
I want to set up a self-help group to put in small-scale energy projects (insulating, draught-proofing, solar hot water etc).
Any interest?

Hi all - the Transition Town Brixton Transport group hasn't really got going yet, however we're having our first meeting next Wednesday (18th) at 7.30pm at 44 Leigham Vale, Streatham. Please come along if you're interested - it would be good to get the TTB and TTT Transport groups working together (once they're both up and running!).

I expect I'll see you all at the naked bike ride protest before that anyway! (How could you turn down the opportunity to both demonstrate AND get naked in public at the same time?! It's too good to be true!...)

Hi guys, Sorry- I didn't make us all able to put files in our Box- now we should all be able to do that!

The discussions are a good place to talk about our events, let me know what you all think!

Hello

I believe the next meeting is on 20th May - have you got the other details - time, venue etc?

Thanks!
