Wandsworth Council is giving £5000 to individuals and groups that can demonstrate good ways to become greener.

We want to encourage people to produce less waste and recycle more – this helps save the planet and save people money in their council tax bills. Every tonne of waste not generated means a saving of £90.

We’ll give a share of the £5000 grant pot to people who can think of a way to reduce waste, increase recycling, cut the consumption of energy or resources, or improve the quality of the local environment. They will need to demonstrate the effectiveness of their scheme, and it will need to be something that can be copied by others.

Examples could include a group of neighbours in a block of flats getting together to compost their waste. The grant could be used to buy composting equipment.

If we give you a grant, you will be required to post regular project updates on the Project Dirt website.

If you're thinking about applying to the Eco Fund, have looked at the application form and would like further advice on whether your project idea is suitable, or on how to put in the strongest possible application, please feel free to give me a call at the Council on (020) 8871 8506. Good luck!

Brilliant news, let's hope this gives incentives to other boroughs and we see it spread.....

Delighted that Wandsworth Council have created this fund. With an increasing number of local groups and projects springing up over the borough, I am sure there will lots of good proposals coming through. Good luck everyone!

Hello WANDSWORTH RESIDENTS

We are very proud and happy to be able to launch the Wandsworth Council Eco fund. The pot is sitting there and ready to be used. The entire initiative will be managed by Wandsworth Council - although we (P Dirt) are happy to help with any aspects.

So - do download the form and get scribbling ... if you have a good waste saving initiative that needs funding
