For those who may not have heard - we are meeting from 7.30 - 9pm tomorrow, at the Alma pub (opposite Wandsworth Town station). See you in the first floor function room - Cllr McCausland will be attending to discuss the Garden project!

Thanks, Emma

Afternoon all!

I would like to invite you to the next meeting of Transition Town Wandsworth, on 23rd November at 7pm. As we are going to agree working groups on different Transition topics, it is important that everyone attends.

The main aims of the meeting are to:

- To discuss creating working groups, e.g. Energy, Food and Transport, based on people's interests and what they can feel they can contribute
- To agree the next steps towards our Community Garden
- To agree a public meeting for January 2010, to engage a wider audience in TT Wandsworth

Please consider which working group you might like to lead or support, and what skills you have to offer. Don't worry if you're not sure - there will be many opportunities to change groups or to get involved in everything!

Meeting will probably be held at the Battersea Arts Centre, or the Alma - TBC (please email preferences).

The minutes of our recent Initiating Group meeting are going to be uploaded imminently onto our Project Dirt webpage for your information.

Look forward to seeing you all!

I went to BBC bar last night but didn't see anyone I recognised (and I'm not the type to go round asking groups of people if they are in TT Wandsworth!). I left about 8pm. Can you give us a summary of the latest please? Ta

At least some of the groundwork will have been done when we get the new site. We'll have to rename this project - if that's possible - or start a new one.

Thanks Dan, this is a shame, but as you say it may work out better in the long run! Do you have any idea on a possible timeframe for finding another site, and are there any plans to meet up again in the interim?

Dear all

There’s been a radical change to the plans for the community garden that I would like to tell you about.

First the good news: after consultation with council members they have unanimously endorsed our initiative to form a community garden and associated working group. The bad news is that they have rejected the council officer’s suggestion, and our proposal, to redesign and utilise the space at Waterside Walk.

Whist these negates our previous designs and ideas for the site it in no way arrests our development of a working group or our plans to create the first community garden for TT Wandsworth in the area.

Indeed the council members for Fairfield ward have tasked the officers at the Park and Tech services with finding us a new space post haste. I am still in discussion with the officers and will keep you apprised of any and all progress.

For those of who have contributed thus far, I’d like to thank you for your support and trust you’re still on board for the next leap – who knows it may be a blessing in disguise as any new site will probably need less rejuvenation this Waterside Walk.

Thanks for your patience.

Best regards,
Dan

Just a reminder - on 26th there's the Wandsworth Community Green Fair http://www.wandsworthgreenfair.info/. This is a really great opportunity to promote Waterside Walk and get some additional helpers - as well as a cracking day in its own right.
It would be great if you could come along - we've got Paul Ekins (helped to set up Forum for the Future, government advisor etc) speaking and I am sure can find a speaking slot for Waterside Walk which could hardly be more local.
The more the merrier!

Hi all,
Saw this attractive and simple approach to raised beds at a site near Waterloo last week. We can purchase cheap (but sustainably sourced!) timber and construct these on site. Andy and I are off on holiday until 28th Sept, but I'm looking forward to meeting up again soon.
