
Project Dirt is all about creating an inclusive network for all
sorts of green projects, people and organisations. We’re keen to
have the likes of NESTA and Lambeth BC, sitting next to
organisations such as Earthwatch, sitting next to everyday
individuals doing their own projects. This way everyone can see
what’s going on, collaborate and co-ordinate their activities.
Its not just about letting everyone head onto the site though.
Being a close-knit community. We’re all up for working with the
good guys. The guys that are there to help the existing projects.
Those that conduct themselves with some green integrity … and are
about doing practical and sensible activities.
We’re increasingly being approached by networks/organisations, who
want to use Project Dirt as a platform to support their green
activities. We’re chuffed with this and want to encourage more and
more of such organisations to come and get stuck into the Project
Dirt community. Check out some of the below:
CAPITAL
GROWTH
Aims to help Londoners transform the capital by helping to create
2,012 new community food growing spaces by 2012. The campaign
offers practical and financial* support to communities around
London.
EARTHWATCH
Is an international environmental charity, committed to conserving
the diversity and integrity of life on earth to meet the needs of
current and future generations. It engages individuals and
organisations in hands-on, scientific research expeditions to
locations around the world in order to promote the understanding
and action necessary for a sustainable environment.
LAMBETH
Lambeth Borough Council is increasingly committed to working with
the green projects in its borough boundaries. This page provides an
overview of the active projects with Lambeth.
NESTA
The Big Green Challenge, launched in October 2007 by NESTA, is a £1
million prize fund to encourage and reward people working together
to find new and better ways to tackle climate change. This page
represents organisations looking to achieve significant reduction
of CO2 emissions in their communities.
TRANSITION
TOWNS
A Transition Initiative is a community working together to combat
peak oil and climate change. There are now over 150 ‘official’
Transition communities, with 10 present on Project Dirt.
WANDSWORTH COUNCIL - ECO FUND
Wandsworth Council has recently announced a new Eco Fund. The
£5,000 funding pot will help selected Wandsworth environmental
groups achieve their environmental ambitions to the betterment of
the borough.
